Industry Launches Campaign To Add 2,000 New Sales Professionals

An alliance of leading long-term care insurance organizations has launched the national Jobs To Protect America’s Future campaign.  The effort intends to recruit, train and support up to 2,000 unemployed Americans who will help educate Americans about the need to plan for the potential risk of needing long-term care.

The campaign, organized by the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance seeks to add to the approximately 5,000 professionals who currently educate consumers about long-term care planning and market insurance protection.

“There has never been a more urgent need to create awareness and help individuals plan,” states Jesse Slome, the Association’s Executive Director.  “This is an opportunity to create jobs, protect Americans and their families from the single greatest financial risk to retirement savings and security for America’s aging seniors.”

In 2000, there were 34.8 million Americans aged 65 or older, nearly 13 percent of the population.  By 2020, Census data projects that percentage will increase by nearly one-third.  By 2040, the number of elderly aged 85 or older — the age group most likely to need long-term care services — is projected to more than triple from about 4 million to about 14 million.

“In the past year, we have helped several hundred individuals coming from all walks of life start new careers educating individuals and employer groups about long-term care planning,” states Jonas Roeser, Senior Vice President of LTC Financial Partners.  “The need to help Americans plan has never been greater.”

Professionals are being sought to cover all 50 states.  Independent organizations will organize orientation, training and support.  “This is an ideal opportunity especially for older individuals who may have more difficulty finding employment,” notes Mark Goldberg, with ACSIA LTC Global. “With just 10 percent of Americans currently protected, the potential and need is virtually untapped.”
