A new entity will bring together leading insurance marketing and leads experts according to Jesse Slome, founder of the American Association for Long-Term care Insurance.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of TheLeadPros with the goal of helping insurance agents and financial professionals who seek to generate more consumer leads,” stated Jesse Slome. Slome is one of the nation’s leading insurance marketing professionals who has also founded a number of insurance trade organizations.

Slome, a frequent speaker at agent conferences and industry meetings, recognized that agents with limited amounts of money to spend on lead generation are typically overlooked.

“Just as Home Depot killed local hardware stores and Amazon disrupted the world of retail, change is coming rapidly to the insurance business,” Slome predicts. “Insurance and financial professionals who don’t adapt and undertake new efforts to position themselves unfortunately won’t survive as larger entities disrupt the insurance and financial distribution models.”

The new entity launched a new website and Slome announced he is offering to speak without a normal speaking fee as part of the initial brand building for the new organization. Details can be found on the new website www.theleadpros.com.

Jesse Slome spent over 20 years directing public relations and marketing efforts for major consumer brand companies including General Foods, Dunlap Sports as well as financial and insurance companies including Aetna, Citibank and Transamerica. He is founder of several industry organizations including the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance and the National Advisory Center for Short Term Care Information.

New research reports that many people feel disconnected from the individuals they will be in the future and this impacts their willingness to save for retirement or undertake long term care insurance planning.

According to Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, new research reported in the June 2013 edition of the Harvard Business Review offers insights that can be beneficial to insurance and financial professionals who market long term health care insurance.

“If you imagine your birthday next year, you’ll envision the scene as if you were looking out with your own eyes,” Slome shared with West Coast insurance professionals. “But if you are asked to imagine your birthday in 20 years, some people won’t picture an older version of themselves and these people are more likely to avoid issues related to planning.”

Slome shared findings from the research findings. “Scientists found that digitally altered photographs helped people relate to important matters like saving for retirement,” Slome explained. Researchers used photo altering tools to show people images of themselves at older ages. “Those who actually saw older images of themselves set aside 6.8 percent of their pay for retirement on average versus 5.2 percent who were shown pictures of their current selves,” Slome reported.

A number of companies already are using this technique to help people understand and relate to the issue Slome notes. Merril Lynch is using some of the photo altering technology on it’s website.

“It is important to help people really picture what life in their future may be like,” Slome advised. “And how their aging will affect their family and loved ones.” The national long term care insurance expert noted that far too many people fail to understand that planning for long term care can’t begin after age 70. “It has to start in ones 50s and 60s when there is still time to plan and options such as insurance are still available to folks,” Slome advised.

Insurance and financial professionals who market long-term care insurance protection are invited to enter the Eighth Long-Term Care Sales Achievement Awards. The annual program, conducted by the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, recognizes producers based on sales made during 2009.

“Awards are given for sales of individual long-term care insurance policies as well as multi-life long-term care,” explains Jesse Slome, the organization’s executive director. A new category has been added to recognize producers who began selling long-term care insurance in 2009.

Award recipients are ranked on a national as well as a state-by-state basis with their names published in the Association’s annual LTCi Sourcebook. ”This is an excellent way for agents and brokers, even those who have just started selling, to show prospects they have been recognized as a leading producer in the industry,” Slome notes. The minimal placed premium for 2009 is $2,500. ”All those who enter and qualify are recognized,” he adds.

Information and the entry application can be accessed online via the Association’s website: http://www.aaltci.org/awards.

Established in 1998, the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance is the national association serving insurance and financial professionals who provide long-term care financing solutions.
